Several weeks ago I started a new theme-based
series on India.
My compassion was aroused when I learned of the plight of the
Dalit * ("Untouchable") peoples of India. I wanted to express my solidarity
with them by creating this series of canvasses - these portraits are the firstfruits. Through these canvasses, I hope to restore
dignity to a people robbed of it by the caste system.
